Merry Holidays

The holiday ritual was pretty much the same as last year, save for the huge barbecue to help decorate one of the trees outside the tar woods. Instead, he had decorated the Trans Am and lit it up in the driveway. The house wasn't lit but the mailbox sure as hell was. Like a small beacon you could probably see from space. No wonder the mailman called in his house for burns on his hands.

The gifts for family lay under the kendo mural or have already been sent to their proper people. A charmed necklace for Tam (we won't discuss where he got a welpling summon charm at this current time or how bad it smells to him). The Baby's First Spellbook for Little Suzie. New bartowels for H.D.'s (and a holiday card sent to the Hollister residence). Holiday Greeting ornaments for the Pard. Tickets to Snoopy On Ice for Leela and her son, Tom. A glass ornament for Emma.

But one more than any else vexed him. No trinket or totem or bit of shine would sate his need to please this person, to make them smile. Tamarantha and Suzie aside, only one person meant enough to make this gift a tough choice to ponder.

Susan Storm might wake to gifts aplenty, silver and diamonds and all the riches money may holster, save for one piece. A card in the tinsel of the tree in the Baxter Building reads in crisp writing, both German and English.

It's impossible for me to find something tangable to display my wishes for you to have a wonderful and happy holiday. Even moreso for me to express my wishes to give you my deepest affections.
I would be honored to be able to take you to dinner. Say yes, bitte schön.
XX, D.D.

It's come to my attention that I've been quiet. Moreso than usual. I'm sorry. I feel the need to apologize, as with most things, because I honestly feel like the disconnection is my own fault. I've pretty much holed up in the dojo for months now and have worked on very little to pass the time.

I tried making a boat. It's still unfinished. I tried to put in a new engine to one of the Firebirds. The engine is still at the warehouse. I even tried to re-enter the dating scene. That was a big FAIL on my part.

I'm not sure what to do now. I know that I still want to see my family. I still want to hang out with the Pard (being if I'm still part of it). I know I still want to work at H.D.'s. But, I still feel like I'm missing something.

This is why I'm asking for the opinions of my friends and family about my new project. I'm thinking of re-entering the law & order scene by becoming a New York police officer. I could go into a field I'm pretty well versed in and go back as a detective. I could go into SWAT. The thing is that I feel that I'd get back the mental state that I've been missing since arriving in the Nexus.

I'll still be here to be part of everyone's lives if they want or need me. I'll still be here for tea or movie marathons if you guys still want to put up with an old fart like me blubbing at the sappy scenes. I just feel like I should pick up where I left off and try and keep at the whole 'being normal' thing while I'm at it.

Yes? No? Shut up, you stupid git or I'll throw a book at you?

-Dante

Dante stood in the open mouth of the shed in a cloud of sawdust. The whir of machinary echoed on the grounds in pulses as he trimmed the excess ends from the posts to what looked like the wooden skeleton of a dingy. His shirt had been pulled off and tucked into his back pocket to use as a spare sweat rag. Bits of wood and a layer of sawdust covered his front, smeared in various places. He had to be thankful all of that wasn't being breathed in; thankful for the dustmask.

You entered: Dante Krisov Delacroix

There are 20 letters in your name.
Those 20 letters total to 94
There are 8 vowels and 12 consonants in your name.

Your number is: 4

The characteristics of #4 are: A foundation, order, service, struggle against limits, steady growth.

The expression or destiny for #4:
Order, service, and management are the cornerstones of the number 4 Expression. Your destiny is to express wonderful organization skills with your ever practical, down-to-earth approach. You are the kind of person who is always willing to work those long, hard hours to push a project through to completion. A patience with detail allows you to become expert in fields such as building, engineering, and all forms of craftsmanship. Your abilities to write and teach may lean toward the more technical and detailed. In the arts, music will likely be your choice. Artistic talents may also appear in such fields as horiculture and floral arrangement, as well. Many skilled physicians and especially surgeons have the 4 Expression.

The positive attitudes of the 4 Expression yield responsibility; you are one who no doubt, fulfills obligations, and is highly systematic and orderly. You are serious and sincere, honest and faithful. It is your role to help and you are required to do a good job at everything you undertake.

If there is too much 4 energies present in your makeup, you may express some of the negative attitudes of the number 4. The obligations that you face may tend to create frustration and feelings of limitation or restriction. You may sometimes find yourself nursing negative attitudes in this regard and these can keep you in a rather low mood. Avoid becoming too rigid, stubborn, dogmatic, and fixed in your opinions. You may have a tendency to develop and hold very strong likes and dislikes, and some of these may border on the classification of prejudice. The negative side of 4 often produces dominant and bossy individuals who use disciplinarian to an excess. These tendencies must be avoided. Finally, like nearly all with 4 Expression, you must keep your eye on the big picture and not get overly wrapped up in detail and routine.

Your Soul Urge number is: 6

A Soul Urge number of 6 means:
With a number 6 Soul Urge, you would like to be appreciated for your ability to handle responsibility. Your home and family are likely to be a strong focus for you, perhaps the strongest focus of your life. Friendship, love, and affection are high on your list of priorities for a happy life. You have a lot of diplomatic tendencies in your makeup, as you a able to rectify and balance situations with an innate skill. You like working with people rather than by yourself. It is extremely important for you to have harmony in your environment at all times.

The positive side of the 6 Soul Urge produces a huge capacity for responsibility; you are always there and ready to assume more than your share of the load. If you possess positive 6 Soul Urges and express them, you are known for your generosity, understanding and deep sympathetic attitude. Strong 6 energy is very giving of love, affection, and emotional support. You may have the inclination to teach or serve your community in other idealistic ways. You have natural abilities to help people. You are also likely to have artistic and creative leanings.

If you have an over-supply of 6 energy in your makeup, you may express some of the negative traits common to this number. With such a strong sympathetic attitude, it is easy to become too emotional. Sometimes the desires to render help can be over done, and it can become interfering and an attitude that is too protective, rather than helpful. The person with too much 6 energy often finds that people tend to take advantage of this very giving spirit. You may tend to repress your own needs so that you can cater to the demands from others. At times, there may be a tendency in this, for becoming over-loaded with such demands, and as a result become resentful.

Your Inner Dream number is: 7

An Inner Dream number of 7 means:
You dream of having the opportunity to read, study, and shut yourself off from worldly distractions. You can see yourself as a teacher, mystic, or ecclesiastic, spending your life in the pursuit of knowledge and learning.

Thick fingers drummed on an even thicker thigh as amber eyes stapled onto the memo pad on the kitchen table. Dante's chicken scratch scribble lined the paper, listing off the little details of his plan. A mission he'd given himself and labeled with the highest priority. This would make or break him. Make. He was really hoping of the 'make' part.

The two felines also within the Delacroix household watched vigilantly, eyeing the massive man before lowering watch to the pad of lined paper then the phone. Dante. Paper. Phone. Dante. Paper. Phone. Dante.

The man stood, nearly knocking down his chair in his change to pace the kitchen. Would it work? He had so much on this mission. On this plan. What if they found out? What if all of this was compromised before its time?

Courage. He was known for his bravery and his daring self. This would be a walk in the park compared to some of his previous works.

A hand picked up the receiver as his other digits dialed up the number for the Baxter Building.

SHHHHHHHHHHHH. Luke warm water out of the faucet like Niagara from the falls poured over stilled hands. Rough skin was covered by engine grease and used oil, smeared black and synthetic brown tainting the skin. Dante stood at the kitchen sink, simply staring down through a messy mane of sweaty earth colored hair. Placid yellow eyes watching the rivulets of clear water wash off the pollutants and grime he's gathered from working on the Trans Am.

It was funny to say that he was wearing his disposable clothes, as much of what he wore was already ratty and worn through. The jeans were spotted and stained with grease over the white spots made by spilled bleach some few months ago. The t-shirt was thin over the long sleeves of a white cotton undershirt. All of it stained. Dante shook off his hands before running a set of fingers through his hair and just leaning forward against the counter as the water continued to run. He sighed, mesmerized by the liquid.

With his bottom pointed out to the table, the dirtied rag sticking out of the back pocket of his jeans, he simply let himself fall into the dance of the water, the pull into the basin before the swirling spin into the open of the drain.

It was went into the evening, several hours past dinner, but many more before the sun would rise over the eastern horizon. Crickets sang on the grass around the sleeping '79 Pontiac, a tool sets sitting next to it on the spread out tarp.

Exhale. Hoo.

The sound of the blade slicing through the air was nearly silent, the metallic hiss the only partner to Dante's controlled breathing. Bare chested, sweat rolling down his back and chest. His gi pants rolled up to the bottom of his knees. The man focused on his swing, trying each time to shorten and quicken the strike.

Zing. Exhale. Hoo.

A new scar lined his back, almost barren of the scab. It looked like the result of a lashing rather than a cut from a knife. Nine had teased him about it, poking his back as they sparred. Truthfully, he was still a bit bitter. Dante turned, swinging again at the air. His eyes were keen to stay with the tip of the blade, broken only by the swaying of the stray bangs of earthly brown.

Zing. Hiss. Breath.

His arm was tired, the shoulder screaming with pain. No pain, no gain, he thought. The man paused, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow and stepped forward against, swinging. Practice. Chip away at the imperfections to create a better, more efficient fighter. Do it for your life. For your purpose. For him.
